Why are my carrots green at the tops?
While growing carrots will often push themselves out of the ground, causing their tops (not their greens) to be exposed to the sun which in turn causes the orange to turn reddish brown or green. The trick to having orange roots right up to where the greens start is to hill them up with soil to protect the root tops from the sun.
