I love growing food! I've always had a kitchen garden. This year (2010) has been different, though. My family has decided to take home food growing a step further and to start living all the other aspects of our lives within the means of the planet--which means changing pretty much everything we've been doing, from transportation to how we've housed ourselves, where we get our water, and what we do with our waste. Growing our food is the happy center of all of that. It's so thrilling to see so many new food gardens springing up around my city! Ironically, as we transition and look for a new house and a new place to garden, this is the first spring I haven't planted my own kitchen garden. So I'm living vicariously--reading about and tending to the gardens of others. Happy spring!
