White House Kitchen Garden Campaign

In February 2008, KGI started and led a high-profile public awareness and advocacy campaign called "Eat the View" to replant a kitchen garden at the White House. The thinking was that if such a high-impact garden could be planted in such a high-profile location it could inspire millions of people to plant new gardens of their own.
The campaign became KGI's main activity for 2008 and the start of of 2009 attracting over 110,000 signatures on a White House garden petition and massive national and international press coverage. If the campaign proved successful, it was because of the thousands of people and gardeners who supported it, shared it with friends, and made their voices heard.
We produced this short video and Google Docs slideshow below to celebrate the digging of the White House's kitchen garden and our role in advocating for it. We hope you enjoy them and will feel inspired to plant and eat a view near you.
